HPF has 25 years’ experience in offering training to meet the needs of a range of communities, programmes and service providers.

From our flagship Certificate of Achievement (also known as the ‘short course’) to a range of tailored workshops, the Forum offers a calendar of professional development opportunities across the country and all year ‘round.

The Certificate of Achievement in Introducing Health Promotion (CoA) is a level 4 Manukau Institute of Technology qualification. MIT are a registered NZQA provider who has partnered with the Health Promotion Forum of NZ to provide this course.

There are a limited number of CoA scholarships available. Contact Emma Frost for an application form (emma[at] or 09 300 3734). The scholarship offers you free course registration including course materials and morning and afternoon refreshments. Criteria conditions apply.

Determinants of Health

Take advantage of this online course where you can study when and where it suits you! The Determinants of Health online workshop contains:

  • Youtube clips, TED talks and resources to help you explore the topic further
  • Online activities that you need to complete
  • An opportunity for you to share your knowledge with other participants

The workshop is delivered in 4 sections:

To lead the communicating of knowledge, news and information to the health promotion sector and the general public, the HPF wishes to recruit a communications advisor (.4 part-time, permanent). 

The HPF is a national umbrella organisation for the discipline of health promotion in Aotearoa New Zealand. It also plays a leading role in the development of health promotion at the regional and international level.  For example, HPF co-hosts the 2018 joint population health congress in Auckland, April 2018, and the world health promotion conference on April 7-11, 2019 in Rotorua.

2018-19 New Zealand Harkness Fellowship in Health Care Policy and Practice

The Commonwealth Fund is pleased to invite you to nominate a candidate for the 2018-19 New Zealand Harkness Fellowship in Health Care Policy and Practice. The Harkness Fellowships were established in 1925 and modeled after the Rhodes Scholarships and aim to produce the next generation of health policy leaders in participating countries.

While all interested applicants are welcome to apply, we encourage nominations and appreciate your taking the time to identify potential applicants for this prestigious Fellowship program.

Each fellowship provides up to USD$130,000 in support covering:
