Kia ora Mental Health Awareness Week is here and it couldn't be more timely! After what's been a tough couple of months for many, it's the perfect time to catch up with friends and whānau because a little chat can go a long way.

In this issue, we meet the wonderful Reverend Setaita Veikune who encourages us to slow down, reach out to each other and seek happiness even when life throws us curve balls.

We also explore how a wave of desynchronosis (you'll need to read on for a definition!) is making it particularly hard for many of us to get:

  • the kids to bed;
  • ourselves out of bed in the morning; or
  • through the day without dreaming of a latte and a nap!

Whether you're loving life right now or finding things tough, remember to take some time for the little things that fill your cup - like heading outside, chatting with a mate, or getting lost in a good book. After all, it is the little things that bring us joy.

Not all right?

New challenges and the loss of our regular routines is causing stress for many of us. This can really erode our wellbeing over time. It’s important to remember to do the little things that help recharge us. It’s also important to know there is someone to talk to and free help available.

It’s all right to reach out if you need to - we all need a bit of support from time-to-time.

Call or text 1737 to speak with a trained counsellor anytime - it’s free and completely confidential. You can also call Lifeline on 0800 543354 or text HELP to 4357.
