Rakahuri Trail Extension: Opening Ceremony and Ride
Four kms have been added to the Rakahuri Trail creating a 9km loop for mountain bikers and walkers After the track is officially declared open, there will be a ride to explore the loop track on bike or on foot.
Date: Sunday 14th August 2022.
Start Time: 10.30am.
Meet Location: Rail Bridge Picnic Area at the north end of East Belt (Rangiora).
Parking: Beside the Rail Bridge Picnic Area - north end of East Belt.
The track is designed to be ridden in one direction only, making the track safer for all users.
The North Canterbury Cycling Club contributed $5000 towards the costs of the track extension. A representative from the club will take part in the opening ceremony.
There are now approximately 21.5km of walking and biking tracks in the Ashley Rakahuri Regional Park.
The Rakahuri Trail is part of Ashley Rakahuri Regional Park.
