All Right? Digest: May 2023
Kia ora We are on the countdown to Pink Shirt Day this Friday! A special day dedicated to fostering a "kinder, more inclusive Aotearoa where everyone feels safe, valued, and respected regardless of gender identity, sexual orientation, age, ability, religion or cultural background”.
We've celebrated Pink Shirt Day in New Zealand since 2009 and the movement grows stronger with every year that passes. Thousands of schools, workplaces and communities band together in a sea of pink to show that there is no place for bullying in Aotearoa and spread messages of love, kindness and empathy.
What's even more special is that Pink Shirt Day works to fund some really important mahi like reaching 2,700 schools and thousands of workplaces nationwide every year providing them with free resources and activities that promote wellbeing, prevent bullying and create more welcoming and respectful environments. This year the Mental Health Foundation have committed to creating a free wellbeing programme for teenagers across New Zealand, ka mau te wehi!
There are heaps of ways to get involved this Pink Shirt day whether you are a part of a school, workplace, community or you just want to get out there and spread some love, we'll take you through it!
