Anti-bullying Programme for Christchurch High Schools
Be The Change NZ has gained funding from the Ministry of Social
Development to bring a life-changing programme to Christchurch and
New Zealand free of charge. This active programme for awesome
teens aims to help stop common issues such as bullying, loneliness,
negativity, racism and violence.
Be The Change is proud to bring
this life-changing programme to schools as a "fence at the top of
the hill" rather than an "ambulance at the bottom" which is more
often than not, too late. The point of difference is that
rather than providing leaflets or lecturing to the youth, the
programme offers active, experiential workshops with long-term
follow-ups that actually facilitate a movement towards culture
change.
Contact Vicki Edwards-Brown if you work at a high school
in Christchurch and want to take part in this phenomenal programme

Be the
Change NZ is supported by Youthline, Attitude (Parents Inc),
Canterbury Youth Workers Collective and Christchurch Women's
Refuge.

Be the Change NZ emulates a USA non-profit organisation called
"Challenge Day", who have been successfully working to prevent
teenage tragedies since 1987 with more than 1 million teenagers.
Its programmes are currently presented in 47 states in the USA and
has spread into the Czech Republic, Japan, Canada, Germany,
Australia and The Netherlands, serving teenagers from every gender, race,
ethnicity, sexual orientation, religious background, and
socio-economic level. Their proven results demonstrate that schools
who participate see a reduction in bullying, violence, suicide,
substance abuse and an increase in school safety and emotional
connections among peers and their communities.
