Events at MHAPS during December 2018
All activities listed take place at 357 Madras Street unless otherwise stated. A donation is appreciated for all activities.

Mental Health Advocacy and Peer Support (MHAPS) also offers peer support, peer advocacy, peer recovery groups, a social centre, a consumer participation group and a volunteer run radio show.
Note: MHAPS will be closed from 2pm on Tuesday 24th December, and will re-open at 9am on Monday 7th January 2019. The Latnam Social Centre will be open on Friday 28th December and Friday 4th January.
Youth Peer Recovery Drop-in Groups
Come along to a friendly and welcoming peer support drop-in for young people aged 17+ and for students of all ages on Mondays from 5 to 7pm.
This informal group will be a chance to meet and connect with like-minded people who have their own experiences of stress and distress. You can talk openly and honestly about your mental health experiences in a safe and supportive environment.
Awareness Consumer Group
A friendly and supportive Forum to discuss mental health and addictions topics contributing to improvements in mental health and addiction services. Light refreshments provided.

Time: 12.30 to 2.30pm.

Peer Zone workshops
Peer Zone is a series of fortnightly Monday workshops (from 12.30 to 2.30pm) led by and for people with experience of mental distress or addiction. It invites people to rebuild their own more positive story about their lives, offers tools for whole-of-life wellbeing and creates a community of mutual support.
- 3rd December: Minding our lifestyle.
An extra PeerZone session will be held on Wedesday 5th December (6 to 8.30pm) on the topic of understanding our distress.
Friday Group
Weekend planning for staying safe around alcohol and drugs. Peer support and clinical input available.
Date and Time: Fridays from 12.30 to 2pm
Location: Oxford Terrace Baptist Hall.
Peer Support Sessions
Waiting for a Group or 1:1 to start? Our peer support team will be available on Tuesdays from 2 to 3pm for informal discussions on peer support and wellbeing.
RecoveryWorks
This is a 11-week programme for people who experience moderate to high anxiety and who are strongly committed to change.

Peer Recovery Groups
This is an opportunity to take part in an 11-week recovery focused conversation with a supportive group. Facilitated by MHAPS’ Peer Support Workers.
Dates and Times: Tuesdays from 11am to 12.30pm; and Wednesdays from 6.30 to 8pm.
The next groups will start in January 2019.
Co-Reflection Group
This is an opportunity for staff, contractors, volunteers and community-based peer support facilitators to come together and reflect on our peer support practice.
