Calling all knitters: Woollen hats needed for newborn babies
Sandi and the whole team at Christchurch Women’s Hospital maternity department would like to thank all the people who have donated.
Enough hats have been received for the foreseeable future, but the team will still accept knitted singlets, booties, matinee jackets and blankets.
Can you help keep our newborn babies warm this winter? Christchurch Women’s Hospital (CWH) is asking for donations of pure wool beanies in newborn size.
That hats must be made from wool - not synthetic materials - and should have a circumference of between 25cm (for premmies) and up to 32cm (for average newborns).
Please send hats to:

The benefit of wool is that it can help with stabilising a baby’s body temperature. Because it’s a natural fibre it breathes, so there is less moisture build up. It’s also flame resistant, keeps warm in winter, cool in summer, is stain resistant, biodegradeable, renewable, and soft.
