Growth drives fitness centre expansion
Waimakariri District Council media release: 11th August 2021
The Oxford Fitness Centre could be looking toward an extension to their Pearson Park facility after a change to their lease was approved.
The Oxford Health and Fitness Centre Trust has a lease over the site until 2040 and a proposed extension would add around 153 square meters to the existing building.
Staff explained how interest in the centre and community demand has consistently been on the rise.
Oxford-Ohoka Community Board Chair Doug Nicholl, says “It’s heartening to see the space so well-used and we want to ensure that as the community grows everyone has access to enjoy the services provided by the Centre.”
The Oxford Fitness Centre currently offers a range of gym equipment and runs a small number of group classes. Increasing the footprint would support more people, additional equipment and larger classes.
Approving the lease change is just the first step in getting the ball rolling on the extension proposal.
