Shift: Urban Art Takeover opens this weekend
Urban artists have converged on the city and they are running the show! They are going to paint the town red - or at least the museum!
More than 60 urban artists including six international artists have been let loose in the Canterbury Museum as part of SHIFT: Urban Art Takeover - Canterbury Museum’s blockbuster farewell exhibition which opens on Saturday 28th January 2023.
With the redevelopment not far away, the doors have closed to the public and the Museum handed over the reins to urban artists from Aotearoa and overseas - what is the canvas you may ask? Well the walls of course!
The artists are letting their creative juices flow in 35 spaces across five floors of the almost empty building, including rooms never seen before by the public.
Don’t miss this opportunity to say bye bye to your Museum and explore a once-in-a-lifetime art experience. Allow 1-2 hours to walk through.
Dates: Saturday 28th January to Tuesday 11th April 2023.
Cost: $10 to $25 per person.
SHIFT: Urban Art Takeover is a paid-for experience with all proceeds going towards the Museum’s redevelopment.
