Whakarongo Whakaraupō Festival of Sound
Stoddart Cottage will resound with its first-ever sound-themed festival - Whakarongo Whakaraupō - until Sunday 2nd July 2023. This FREE festival revolves around a month-long group sonic art exhibition exploring place, culture and sensory connection through sound installation, sculpture, and paintings inspired by music.
Dates: Friday to Sunday from 2nd June to 2nd July 2023.
Times: 10am to 4pm each day
Location: Stoddart Cottage (Diamond Harbour).
The festival features work by:
- Ōtautahi-based taonga pūoro player and musician Jake Kīanō Skinner (Ngāti Rangitihi);
- Japanese-born and Ōtepoti Dunedin-resident painter and musician Motoko Kikkawa - accompanied by music by Naarm Melbourne-based Eves;
- Ōtautahi multidisciplinary artist Nicolas Woollaston;
- Ōhinehou Lyttelton sound artist Helen Greenfield with musician Blair Parkes.
