Oraka Ararau: National Māori Alcohol and Other Drug Hui
Te Rau Ora (through Whare Tukutuku) warmly invites whānau Māori working in and around alcohol and other drug spaces to join Oraka Ararau 2026 - hosted in Te Waipounamu by He Waka Tapu.
This hui brings together kaimahi from across the motu to strengthen our collective knowledge and enhance the support we provide for whānau!
Dates: Thursday 26th and Friday 27th March 2026.
Location: Nga Hau E Wha National Marae (250 Pages Road, Wainoni).
Cost: $320 plus booking fee per person. A group discount is available for 5 or more people. Registration includes attendance to both days of the hui, morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea, and a complimentary hui dinner on Thursday evening.
Together, we will continue to build on the momentum from previous Oraka Ararau Hui, exploring the impacts of alcohol and drug harm for Māori, and identifying Māori solutions to reduce harm within our communities.
2026's hui will be guided by the kōrero of Te Hereka Waka - the sacred mooring place where many waka have found safe harbour. As we come together, we anchor ourselves in a shared responsibility and vision, learning to navigate the tides of change and move forward along the many pathways to oraka/oranga.
