Plan Ahead: Dudley Aquatic Centre closed in January
Waimakariri District Council media release: 16th December 2025
Dudley Park Aquatic Centre will be closed from Monday 5th January to Sunday 25th January 2026 for scheduled maintenance.
Major works are taking place to our mechanical operations to ensure the pools remain heated year-round and we’ll also be completing several aesthetic upgrades around the facility.
These include repairing the flooring around poolside and changing areas, replacing tiles in the pools, and updating the lighting above poolside while the pools are drained.
This maintenance also ensures the facility is ready to host school swimming sports in February.
Aquatic Facilities Manager Matt Greenwood says while it’s never an ideal time to close a facility as busy as Dudley, January is the quietest time to carry out essential maintenance.
“January is when our WaiSwim programming breaks for the school holidays and families are making the most of the outdoors.
“Our heated outdoor pool in Oxford will be open throughout this time, so it’s a great chance to check out our summer seasonal pool and enjoy some fun in the sun. Fingers crossed for good weather!”
And for those still seeking an indoor option, Kaiapoi Aquatic Centre will remain open. Both Kaiapoi and Oxford pools will continue to offer aquarobics and lane swimming during this period.
The Dudley Aquatic Centre will reopen on Monday 26th January, just in time for Term 1 Learn to Swim lessons.
Note: Members and concession card holders who are unable to visit our other facilities during this period can contact our Aquatics team to have their account placed on hold for three weeks (aquatic[at]wmk.govt.nz).
