New online Women's Health Hub launched

Women across New Zealand can now find reliable health information all in one place with the launch of an online Women’s Health Hub.

The Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora Communications and Engagement team worked in partnership with the Ministry for Women to make finding reliable health information easy.

“Women have told us they want health information that’s easier to find, understand and use,” says Briony Willing, Principal Digital Communications Advisor, who led the content design work behind the hub.

“The new Women's Health Hub responds directly to that feedback. It’s designed to help women quickly find support, guidance and resources relevant to their stage of life.”

The hub brings together trusted information, practical tools and support in one place.

The Digital National Platforms team analysed website data, reviewed user research and carried out extensive testing to understand what women were looking for and where they were getting stuck.

“One clear theme emerged,” says Briony.

“Women wanted information organised by life stage rather than long lists of health conditions.

“As a result, the hub is structured around three areas: Growing Well, Living Well and Ageing Well.

“The research also identified gaps in existing content. New information has been developed on topics including puberty, while key areas such as mental health, cervical screening, breast screening, menopause and endometriosis have been made easier to find.”

The hub goes beyond health information, including practical resources as well.

These help women prepare for appointments, record symptoms and questions, understand what happens next, and feel more confident speaking with healthcare providers.

Educational videos and visual tools also support different learning needs and levels of health literacy.

“We want to help women feel informed and empowered. We want them to find the information they need, understand what they might be experiencing, and feel confident taking the next step in their healthcare journey.”
