Workshop: Identifying and Responding to Vulnerability and Child Abuse
This one-day workshop from Child Matters provides participants with information about the current context of child abuse and neglect in Aotearoa New Zealand and the changing approach to preventing and addressing harm to children. This workshop is suitable for anyone who engages or works with children and young people and/or their family and whānau.
Participants will explore factors that contribute to vulnerability, risk and trauma, and discuss the effects of family violence and child abuse.
This workshop provides participants with information about what to do when they are concerned about the welfare of a child or young person and identify support and help that is available. Participants will gain the knowledge and tools to be able to identify when children or young people are at risk and confidently take action to promote their safety and wellbeing.
Date: Tuesday 7th May 2024.
Time: 9am to 4pm. Morning tea provided.
Location: Christchurch (venue TBC).
Cost: $185 plus GST per person.
This workshop will include a range of teaching methods and mediums including lecture, small and large group discussions, interactive activities, video clips and case studies. Participants are encouraged to share their ideas and experiences.
