KidsFest is back to entertain and inspire
Christchurch City Council Newsline: 9th June 2026
From karate and ice-skating to shelter building and cooking classes, KidsFest 2026 brings learning and connection to children and young people across the region.
Throughout the July school holidays, more than 200 events will be held around the Christchurch, Banks Peninsula, Waimakariri and Selwyn districts as part of KidsFest.
Now in its 35th year, many popular activities will return in 2026, plus there’s some completely new experiences for school-aged children to explore.
“KidsFest gives families a chance to get involved in a whole range of fun events. Whether it’s a sport they already do or an activity they’re curious about, KidsFest is a great way to occupy young minds during the holidays,” says Christchurch City Council Manager of Events and Arts Lucy Blackmore.
“There’s a wealth of free and affordable activities run by Christchurch City Libraries along with perennial favourites which often sell out like the Christchurch Brick Show and Imagination Station so make sure you book early for those,” says Ms Blackmore.
“The Court Theatre has Disney’s Finding Nemo JR. and for those who like more interactive fun, sign up for one of the arts and crafts, cooking, music, dance or technology workshops. Check out what’s happening and start planning your schedule today!”
The festival runs from Saturday 4 July until Sunday 19 July 2026.
