Whakaoratia tipu: Plant Rescue at Waikākāriki/Horseshoe Lake
Join Conservation Volunteers NZ (CVNZ) at Horseshoe Lake in Christchurch for a special day of wetland restoration, te reo Māori and connection to te taiao. All levels and abilities are welcome. We’ll have bilingual planting guides and resources available to help you practise your reo while you’re out in the whenua. When the mahi is done, join the BBQ!
Date: Saturday 26th September 2026.
Time: 10am to 2pm.
Location: Waikākāriki/ Horseshoe Lake (Ulm Place, Burwood).
Attendees will be working around restoration plantings, clearing back long grasses and giving native plants the space they need to grow strong. Think of it as a conservation treasure hunt as we search through the grasses for native plants ready to be set free!
This event is a collaboration between Christchurch City Council, Conservation Volunteers New Zealand and Kōrero ki Ōtautahi, celebrating the connection between te reo and te taiao.
Register for this Waikākāriki/ Horseshoe Lake event on the CVNZ Volunteer Portal.
