Ottawa Charter at 40: An Asian Health Promotion Conversation in Aotearoa
This event is the final part of the series of online workshops the Health Promotion Forum of NZ (HPF) is hosting marking the marking the 40th anniversary of the World Health Organization's landmark Ottawa Charter for Health Promotion.
The Ottawa Charter for Health Promotion is a framework that continues to shape how we think about health and wellbeing here in Aotearoa and around the world.
So it's time to pause and ask some honest questions about the framework that has shaped health promotion practice in Aotearoa for four decades. Join this engaging and reflective 90-minute online workshop exploring the Ottawa Charter through the lived experiences, practice and perspectives of Asian and migrant communities in Aotearoa New Zealand. Rather than revisiting the Charter as theory, we will bring it to life through community stories and contemporary health-promotion practice, while asking some challenging questions:
- What has endured?
- What is missing?
- Are our communities really “hard to reach” - or can systems be hard to reach?
- How do we move from consultation and participation towards genuine community leadership and shared influence?
Date: Tuesday 20th October 2026.
Time: 11am to 12.30pm.
Location: Online via zoom.
